We consider Kindergarten as one of the pivotal years in the life of student. Kindergarten is a very important step to impart the love of learning and instill a good attitude towards school. CHA is committed to provide a solid education that is Christian based. In order to accomplish this goal, CHA Kindergarten utilizes the Bible curriculum from the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) series. Each student is given a Reading Readiness Test to determine whether he/she is ready to learn to read before beginning school. The kindergarten program also tests the motor coordination skills of beginning students. Motor skills are reevaluated throughout the reading program to track student development. Students must do well on each activity included in the Coordination Development Tests in order to learn to read well.
Kindergarten
The A B Cs with Ace and Christy (Learning to Read) is phonics based learning-to-read program that prepares students for the individualized ACE PACE curriculum. Our Kindergarten also uses sing, spell, read and write curriculum to reinforce reading and writing skills. The beginning reading program uses the same individualized approach of grading used on higher levels. A number of outstanding concepts, including a unique alphabet sequence, a song for each sound, poems, displays and physical and motor development activities are incorporated into the program.
Bible is the groundwork of everything we do at CHA and is integrated throughout the day. The Bible stories and character development activities stimulate the students’ spiritual understanding and growth as well as assist them in developing moral integrity. Students will learn the wonders of God’s world and the reality of our God’s love thru Bible reading, scripture memorization and classroom instruction.
After completing the A B Cs with Ace and Christy, the regular Word building (vocabulary), Math, English, Social Studies and Science PACES are incorporated. All in all, Kindergarten is a fast-paced, eventful time designed to make learning fun and enjoyable and to lay the groundwork for a fruitful education and future.
Elementary School
Christian Home Academy is committed to provide a solid education that is Christian based. In order to accomplish this goal, CHA uses the Accelerated Christian Education program. CHA Elementary uses the Bible curriculum from the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) series because it is individualized. It allows each student to work at his own level of achievement, which may vary from subject to subject. Each student is diagnostically tested to determine current academic ability and identify any learning gaps within each subject prior to placing the student in his/her curriculum. This insures that the student is working at his/her performance level, addressing the learning gaps rather than working at a frustration level as in many other types of schools.
The elementary core curriculum are the foundational courses that provide the student with academics, skill building, reading practice and the knowledge of God, His Word, His character and wisdom. The core curriculum includes the seven basic academic disciplines that fulfill essential educational needs: Math, English, Literature and Creative Writing, Social Studies, Science, Word Building and Bible Reading.
Junior High School
Junior High School can be a challenging time of life, but here at Christian Home Academy (CHA) your Junior High student will have an opportunity to become strong academically, spiritually, and physically. Supporting, challenging, and loving the adolescent during the interval between elementary school and high school is significant in the development of each student. CHA wants to make the most of this dynamic and formative window of time. Our school strives to balance the junior high years by focusing on four essential elements: a deepening faith, a community of friends, positive teacher relationships, and a place of learning. Each student is diagnostically tested to determine current academic ability and identify any learning gaps within each subject prior to placing the student in his/her curriculum. This insures that the student is working at his/her performance level, addressing the learning gaps rather than working at a frustration level.
In addition to the foundational subjects of English, Math, Science, History and Bible, the CHA Junior High student has the opportunity to study Computer Applications, Electricity and Electronics, Science, Art, Spanish and Music. At CHA Junior High School all subjects and classes taught are based on biblical foundations and extol a Christian world-view. In order to accomplish this goal, CHA utilizes the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) program. CHA Junior High School uses the Bible curriculum from the ACE series because it is individualized. It allows each student to work at his own level of achievement, which may vary from subject to subject.
High School
Admission to CHA High School is determined on the basis of parent and student questionnaires; adherence to the parent/student agreement; spiritual, character and academic references; student transcripts/report cards; placement testing; and a personal interview with parent/student. CHA generally does not accept students directly following expulsion, suspension or behavioral problems at another school. These standards are designed to allow students and their families to focus on their commitment towards choosing obedience in Christ in all aspects of life. CHA high is not a behavior “fix it” shop, but a place where those who desire to work hard in academics while following Jesus can do so in peace.
